Looks like my chat with Graham Sharp, Director of AV3 Software, paid off…although they had stopped collecting beta candidates for testing ‘get’ (covered in last week’s FCP user group posting), Graham was kind enough to put me in touch with Doug Hynes, the guy running the beta. I found out today I’ve been selected:
Hello Chris, Thank you for offering to help us beta test ‘get’, our phonetic search application for use with Apple’s Final Cut Pro non-linear editing application. We’re very excited about the product and are heading down the final stretch to a July release date for version 1.0 of the “workstation” edition of ‘get’. We would very much appreciate your help in making ‘get’ as useful and stable a tool as possible. Beta copies will be released within the next week…
The scenarios I’ll be testing their plug-in on include:
- A mix of Canon 5D, Canon 7D, and Panasonic HVX-200a media
- Audio-only clips from some dual sound recordings
- Phonetic searches on live concert, band rehearsals, and interview footage
- Searching for terms spoken over music
- Searching for terms spoken by people who have an accent
