Well, it started a year ago with a chance posting on the CDIA email list where the singer for Veneer, a local rock band, was seeking a filmmaker to make a doc on the band. The target completion date for the doc was January 2010, in time for the band’s 2nd EP. Well, as with any struggling band, January became March, then June, and finally, settled in on September 2010.
This was just as well as it provided me even more time to film the band in a number of locations – from their rehearsals at Boston College, to the Cape for their music video shoot, hanging out in Boston, performing live at Copperfield’s, a birthday party bus, in people’s basement, at a state park, at Harvard Stadium, in the studio, an art gallery opening, etc. The list goes on.
Now the end is in sight. The documentary is in the final stages of completion – soliciting feedback, audio leveling, color correction, and credits still remain. It will be included in the band’s upcoming EP, “It’s What’s on the Outside that Counts”, set to be released in September, just in time for the Boston Music Spotlight Battle of the Bands competition where Veneer is one of the 5 finalists set to perform Friday, September 10 at Oliver’s Nightclub at the Cask’n Flagon in Boston. The next few weeks promises to be an exciting period for both the band and for me.
Look forward to posting and sharing the doc with everyone.
