I recently completed work on a short film titled “Measuring Matthew”, starring Renée Donlon and Nael Nacer, directed by my friend Gul Moonis under the umbrella of Shemoon Films. It’s a dark comedy about an obsessive compulsive guy dealing with a recent breakup from his girlfriend. The film was produced by Jeanne Shapiro with a screenplay adapted from a play written by Patrick Gabridge.
It was 80% a CDIA love fest, with a mix of a few of my own classmates, older alum, and current students. I filled in as DP, though I had a big assist from Beth Cloutier as the crew’s gaffer, who brought a lot of film lighting experience to the project, so it was a big learning experience watching her work. It was a 5 day shoot over the course of 2+ weeks, which ended up taking quite a bit of my free time, so I’m just getting around to catching up on the blog and other projects.
You can check out some of the behind the scene production stills which are up on my site, as well as the late night toast when the production wrapped. Bear in mind it was about 1am when we wrapped, the end of an 18 hour push, with a lengthy night shoot in some pretty cold weather, so needless to say, everyone was beat. I’m sure the wrap party in a few weeks will be a much more livelier ending!
